This year marks the 100th anniversary of our legendary and iconic Springbok Rake. Much copied, but never matched, the Springbok spring tine rake is still made in our Wigan factory 100 years after it was first introduced.
The Springbok has become a firm favourite with gardeners, landscapers and groundsmen over the last century and Bulldog now sell many thousands of rakes each month to customers in countries all around the world. It is particularly exciting to celebrate this landmark as 2020 is also Bulldog Tools’ 240th anniversary, having been established back in 1780.
The rake’s special oil quenched high tensile steel tines are both very strong, but flexible which makes them extremely hard to break and perfect for removing dry thatch, moss and other debris from your lawn without damaging the turf. A strong ‘A’ grade Ash handle is securely fitted to the tool head which is designed to last for many years – even with regular prolonged use.
To celebrate this milestone in both the Springbok’s and Bulldog’s history we have temporarily redesigned the rake’s label to reflect the 1920s when it was first produced. The new label features the leaping Springbok antelope that was first used to promote the rake as well as our very recognisable Bulldog logo.
